Welcome to the 15th WOW Film Festival 2008 NEWS page of our new website. The Program ran from 1 - 5 October with screenings at Chauvel Cinema Sydney, Paddington.

The WOW Festival Program included: 7 Film Sessions, 42 Films, 14 World Premieres, 12 Australian Premieres, 7 Sydney Premieres, 2 Forums and Cafe Connections.

OPENING NIGHT Wednesday started with WOW welcomes and a speech from NSW FTO Chief Executive Officer, Tania Chambers [WOW Major sponsor]. The Australian Cinema Premiere screening of USA Feature film 'RESERVATIONS' starring Australian actress Kerry Armstrong was followed by Q & A session with director Aloura Charles and special guest Kerry Armstrong.

Friday's Program included special documentary RIVER OF NO RETURN from director Darlene Johnson and star Frances Djulibing [Ten Canoes].

WOW Film Festival forums included industry experts: Karen Pearlman, Head of Screen Studies, AFTRS, Julia Overton, Investment Manager, Screen Australia, Joan Sauers, Development Executive, Screen Australia, Laura Sivis, Film Producer and Aloura Charles, Film Director.

The WIFT NSW Media Mentorship for Women program was officially launched at the Festival.

IndieFlix.com went global launching an Online Film Competition for the 2008 WOW Film Festival. Indie-Fest at the World of Women Film Festival is the first voter-based program of its kind to hit the global film festival circuit with WOW movies online at: indie-fest.com/wow
